
Tim Deignan
Geophysicist
Mr. Deignan has been a career geophysicist for more than 17 years, specializing in the planning, execution, and interpretation of geophysical surveys for environmental, archaeological, and law enforcement investigations. He is actively involved in the design of man portable and vehicle towed acquisition systems that utilize several different positioning technologies and geophysical sensors. He also specializes in the design elements of specialized software to process and analyze geophysical data. Mr. Deignan has performed geophysical surveys in the USA and abroad in support of site characterization and remediation programs, cultural resource management, and law enforcement investigations. Tim has been a member of Necrosearch since 1994, and assists other members with his geophysical expertise as well as his excavation experience. He has a degree in Geophysical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Topical scientific interests include the dynamics of detection probability, integrated sensor design and testing procedures, and quantitative estimates of data quality, as well as statistical reliability of data. Outside of the work environment, Tim is active in the Environmental and Engineering Geophysical Society and the Near Surface Geophysical Society of the Society of Exploration Geophysicists (founding member). Tim and his wife Becky have been married for 19 years and have three young men, ages 14, 12, and 11. The family resides in Lakewood, Colorado, where Tim coaches youth and high school basketball. Other interests include fly fishing, weight lifting, training for triathlons, and watching college basketball.
