NecroSearch Assistance

Assistance: Typical Scenario

Contact

Law enforcement investigator contacts NecroSearch via phone, FAX, or mail and gives brief overview of case.

Q & A

The investigator will be provided with a special questionnaire that asks burial-related questions about the case.

Assessment

The completed questionnaire is reviewed by NecroSearch members to determine the optimum methodology to assist the investigator in locating the clandestine grave.

Planning NecroSearch members confer with the  investigator to establish an operational plan.  At this stage remote sensing specialists will also review available air photos and satellite images.
Field Assistance

If requested, a NecroSearch field team then conducts a site investigation under the direction of the requesting agency.  Field investigations typically start with a sequence of non-intrusive methodology such as Forward Looking Infrared (FLIR) and Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) and may progress to actual excavation.

Testimony If successful, NecroSearch  members provide expert testimony pertaining to the results of the field investigation.

Field Strategy

The NecroSearch field strategy is to progress from non-intrusive methods towards more destructive activities.

Non-intrusive methods include remote sensing technologies such as airborne near-infrared imaging.

Intrusive methods include any activities that disturb a site.

Examples include digging, probing, disrupting vegetation, and compacting the soil.

Please Note

Though we would like to directly help family and friends of those missing, NecroSearch International can only respond when asked to do so by the law enforcement agency in charge of a case, so that we will not compromise evidence.
